Analiza Perez-Amurao is currently pursuing her PhD in Multicultural Studies at Mahidol University which, since its establishment in 1888, has "developed into one of the most prestigious universities in Thailand." Analiza Perez-Amurao also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in TESOL* from the Regional Language Center (RELC) Singapore. She also has an MA in English Language and Literature Teaching from the Ateneo deManila University, Philippines. In 1992, she obtained AB-BSE in English (ELT track) from the American-founded Philippine Normal University,the Philippines' National Center for Teacher Education. In the same year, she also finished her Certificate in Speech and Drama from the same university.
In the workplace, Perez-Amurao handles research, writing, and drama courses at the Humanities and Languages Division and serves as EC2 Coordinator. Previously, she was a Level 3 Coordinator at the Preparation Center for Languages and Mathematics - MUIC.
Prior to coming to Thailand, she was the Vice-Chair of the Department of English of the University of Asia and the Pacific in Ortigas, Philippines. A couple of other schools where she also taught include the De La Salle University- Manila and St. Scholastica's College- Manila. She also worked as a textbook reviewer for the Department of Education-Philippines. A textbook she co-authored, entitled English Plus, is currently available at the National Bookstore in the Philippines.
Aside from teaching, her other passion is conducting research in the fields of Applied Linguistics, Education, and, recently, in Multicultural Studies and Migration Studies. Some of her recent works include apublished subsequently. She presented another paper during the 2011 International Test Commission's Conference at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, an investigation which was later published by The International Journal of Research and Review. She also conducted a documentary research that placed her as a t in the SEAMEO- Australia Press Awards 2010 .presented during the 2012 Asian Conference in Education in Osaka, Japan and
In the upcoming 2013 ICEMI, together with her co-author, Perez-Amurao will present a paper about the influence of culture on the job satisfaction level of selected foreign administrators from three leading universities in Thailand. This conference will take place in Rome, Italy.
In recognition of her past achievements, the Bagong Bayani Foundation, Inc., which holds every two years the Bagong Bayani Awards in the Philippines, has chosen her as the 2011 Awardee for the Most Outstanding Employee Category. "The Bagong Bayani Awards (BBA) is a national search for the country’s outstanding and exemplary overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). The awards seek to recognize and pay tribute to OFWs for their significant efforts in fostering goodwill among peoples of the world, enhancing and promoting the image of the Filipino as a competent, responsible, and dignified worker, and for greatly contributing to the socio-economic development of their communities and our country as a whole."
Perez-Amurao received the award from HE President Benigno C. Aquino III on December 1, 2011 at the Malacanang Palace, Manila, Philippines. Within the same vein, Analiza Perez-Amurao was given an OBRA Award last December 2012. The awarding ceremonies were held during the Balikbayan Mega-Expo at the Mega-trade Hall at Megamall, Manila. OBRA Awards is held annually in recognition of positive contributions made by overseas Filipino workers across the globe.
